SUL WHASOO FLAGSHIP:The lantern has great significance in Asian history, both in its
and mythological meanings. It symbolizes guidance through darkness, and represents the
beginning and end of a journey. Neri&Hu, a design firm, transformed a five-story building in
Seoul, South Korea, into a flagship store for Sulwhasoo, a leading Asian skincare brand, drawing
inspiration from these ideas of the lantern. The building, originally designed by Korean architect
IROJE in 2003, was given a new concept that pays homage to Asian culture and traditions,
reflecting the roots of the Sulwhasoo brand. This transformation aims to introduce customers to
the wealth of Asian wisdom that is inherent in Sulwhasoo's philosophy.
Anaya Art Center: Ruen Design received an invitation from Anaya Aranya, a developer, to
design an art center in the Qinhuangdao community on the gold coast. The owner's forward-
thinking approach allowed for a lot of creative freedom in the project's design. Ruen Design also
saw this as an opportunity to challenge the traditional definitions of an art center and public
space. The Anaya community values restoring human emotions and promoting environmental
harmony. As a result, Ruen Design included a circular courtyard within the building to serve as a
public area where community residents can engage in various activities, in addition to the art
exhibition functions.
